Creating a Racetrack with DrawAndRace

How can I get DrawAndRace?
The beta version of DrawAndRace is available for Mac and PC.

Step 1. Click on this button to start creating your racetrack:
Step 2. Draw a racetrack on a piece of paper:
Step 3. Take a photo of your racetrack and transfer it to your computer. Step 4. Click on the replace graphic button to load your photo into the software:
Step 5.  (Optional) Toggle between the Single tile and Repeating tile modes depending on what type of landscape you want:
DrawAndRace is a simple piece of software that lets you race around your own hand- drawn racetracks.  Just download, install and run DrawAndRace on your Mac or PC and then follow the instructions below.
Creating a 3D Model
Over the coming months, I’ll be adding more features to DrawAndRace.  Next up, there’ll be a feature that lets you race your 3D vehicles around your own racetrack. Also, there will be a feature for exporting models to other 3D software.

Choose this if you want your racetrack to appear exactly like your original drawing. 
Choose this if you want your racetrack to be repeated so that there is no visible rectangular edge.
 Step 6.  Click on the              button to edit the racetrack terrain:

Click and drag to raise the terrain
Click and drag to flatten the terrain
Click and drag to change the size of the brush
Click and drag to zoom in and out
Click and drag to lower the terrain
You can paint textures directly onto the terrain or use the following tools:
Rotate
Use the keyboard arrow keys to rotate
 Step 7.  (Optional) Click on the              button to define regions as road or off-road:
Single tile
Repeating tile
Off-Road
Road
Click and drag to define a region as off-road. You will slow down as you travel off-road.
Use the following tools to define different regions:

 Step 9.  Click on the              button to start racing:
Click and drag to adjust the maximum speed
Steer
Use the left and right keys on the keyboard to steer
Accelerate
Use the up keyboard key to accelerate
Your first click specifies where the race will start.  Further clicks around the track will place up to 9 checkpoints that players will have to pass through in order.  Once you are ready to specify where the race finishes, click on the finish button at the top right of the window and click on the finish line. Click and drag on the circle around each checkpoint until the circle diameter is just larger than the width of the road.
Click and drag to define a region as road.  You will travel faster on the road.
DrawAndRace is a work in progress.  In the coming months, a version will be released for the iPad.  In the meantime, why not try out the DrawAndRace Editor  that lets you create your own 3D vehicle from a 2D picture?

Click to select a craft
Click and drag to change the craft size
Toggle one and two player mode
Steer
Use the Z and X keys to steer in 2-player mode
Accelerate
Use the F key to accelerate in 2-player mode
Third Person View Click and drag on the slider to choose a craft height Click and drag on the eye to choose a viewing angle
